Root Canal Treatment
Also known as endodontic therapy, a dental procedure used to treat infection or damage to the pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth). The process involves removing the infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth, and then filling and sealing it to prevent further infection. This treatment saves the natural tooth and alleviates pain, restoring its function.
Root Canal Retreatment
Performed to address issues in a tooth that has previously undergone root canal therapy but has not healed properly or has developed new problems. It involves reopening the tooth, removing the existing filling material, cleaning and disinfecting the canals again, and then refilling and sealing the tooth to resolve the infection or issues and promote proper healing.
Microendodontics and 3D Imaging
Micro-endodontics, also known as microsurgical endodontics, is a type of root canal treatment that uses a dental operating microscope (DOM) to improve visualization of the root canal system. This allows for better accuracy in locating and negotiating root canals, which can lead to a higher success rate for root canal treatments.
