Mercury Filling Removal

Amalgam or silver fillings are a popular and expensive option used by many dentists. Did you know that silver amalgam fillings contain ingredients such as tin, copper, zinc, and most importantly, contain as much as 50% mercury. This mercury can leach into your blood and cause many health concerns. Symptoms of mercury toxicity include chronic fatigue, headaches, lack of coordination or balance, higher incidence of auto immune disorders and changes in your personality.

Crowns and Bridges

When a tooth’s structure has been damaged by injury, wear and tear or decay, that tooth may be uncomfortable and unsightly. Dr. Spalenka offers 3 types of restorations; inlays, onlays, and crowns, to return the tooth to its natural function and preserve your youthful appearance. This procedure is both cosmetic and restorative.

  • Same-Day Custom Dental Crowns (CEREC)

A same-day custom dental crown, facilitated by advanced CAD/CAM technology like CEREC, involves preparing the tooth, creating a digital 3D image, designing the crown with CAD software, milling it in-office, and fitting and cementing it, all in a single visit

  • Custom Gold Crowns

Designed to fit over a damaged or decayed tooth. These crowns are known for their durability, strength, and biocompatibility. The process typically involves taking an impression of the tooth, creating a mold, and then casting the crown from gold. Gold crowns are particularly suitable for molars and other teeth that endure significant chewing pressure. They offer a long-lasting solution and require minimal removal of the natural tooth structure.

  • Partial Crowns - Onlays/Inlays

Used to repair damaged or decayed teeth without covering the entire tooth, as a full crown does. Here's the difference between the two:

Inlays: These fit within the cusps (the raised points on the chewing surface) of the tooth. They are typically used for smaller areas of decay or damage that are confined to the central part of the tooth.

Onlays: These cover one or more cusps of the tooth, and sometimes the entire biting surface. Onlays are used when the damage or decay extends to a larger portion of the tooth but doesn't require a full crown.

  • Bridges

    • Fixed Bridges - a non-removable dental prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth by permanently attaching artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth or dental implants.
    • Maryland Bridges - Also known as a resin-bonded bridge, this type uses a metal or porcelain framework with wings on each side of the bridge that are bonded to the back of the adjacent teeth.

Extractions

Dental extractions are procedures where a tooth is removed from its socket in the bone. Extractions are usually performed when a tooth is damaged beyond repair, severely decayed, or causing overcrowding in the mouth. In some cases, wisdom teeth may be extracted to prevent future problems. The procedure is typically done under local anesthesia to numb the area and ensure the patient’s comfort. After the extraction, proper care is needed to promote healing, such as avoiding certain foods and keeping the area clean to prevent infection.

Night guards

Dental night guards are custom-fitted devices worn over the teeth during sleep to prevent damage caused by teeth grinding or clenching, a condition known as bruxism. Night guards act as a protective barrier between the upper and lower teeth, reducing the risk of enamel wear, tooth fractures, and jaw pain. They also help alleviate pressure on the jaw joints, which can reduce headaches and discomfort associated with bruxism. Typically made from durable, comfortable materials, night guards are designed to fit snugly, offering both protection and comfort during sleep. They are recommended by dentists to prevent long-term damage to teeth and promote better oral health.

Sports Guards

Custom dental sports guards are specialized mouthpieces designed to protect the teeth, gums, and jaw during physical activities, particularly contact sports like football, hockey, and basketball. Unlike over-the-counter versions, custom sports guards are crafted specifically for the individual's teeth, offering a more comfortable and secure fit. These guards help absorb and distribute the impact from blows to the face, reducing the risk of broken teeth, soft tissue injuries, and even concussions. Made from durable, high-quality materials, custom sports guards ensure optimal protection while allowing athletes to breathe and communicate more easily. Dentists recommend them for anyone engaging in sports to prevent serious dental injuries.

Second opINIONS

When considering major dental work, such as implants, root canals, or extractions, it's crucial to feel confident that you're making the right decision for your oral health. A second opinion can provide clarity, confirm a diagnosis, or offer alternative solutions that you may not have considered. It's about empowering yourself with knowledge, so you can make the best decision for your unique needs and feel secure moving forward with your dental care.

Tooth-colored Fillings (Composites)

Used to repair teeth that have been affected by decay, cracks, fractures, or other damage. They blend in with the natural color of your teeth, making them virtually invisible.

Dentures

Designed to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They can be full (complete) or partial, depending on the number of teeth that need to be replaced.

  • Full Dentures

Full dentures replace all the teeth in a jaw and rest directly on the gums.

  • Removable Partial Dentrues

Removable partial dentures replace a few missing teeth and are anchored by the remaining natural teeth.
