Professional Cleaning

Your hygienist gently cleans your teeth, and this should not hurt. Your cleaning begins by removing tartar and plaque with a scaler tool. Next, the teeth are polished and flossed, followed by a rinse. Once clean, your hygienist will apply fluoride to protect your teeth.

Now you are finished, it's time to book your next appointment!

Why are regular cleanings so important?

Dental exams and cleanings keep your teeth clean and prevent dental issues, such as cavities and gum disease.

Even with good at-home care, removing all debris that accumulates on teeth over time is impossible. Any bacteria is able to hide from your toothbrush or flossing and can turn into plaque, which soon hardens into tartar. Tartar does not come off the teeth easily by brushing or flossing, and it can eventually lead to cavities and gum disease. Our hygienists can remove this dangerous tartar with their sophisticated instruments and extensive training.

Cleanings help to keep Dr Spalenka aware of any developing dental issues. Early diagnosis and treatment ensure better outcomes!

How often should I get a cleaning?

Dr. Spalenka will suggest a minimum of one cleaning every six months for most people. Depending on your situation, he may recommend cleanings more often, especially if you have specific health conditions.
